Gallbladder disease is usually related to gallstones. Surgery to remove the gallbladder is one of the most common operations done in the world and is known as cholecystectomy. My preference is to use a robotic surgical approach which allows me to do a more delicate and safer dissection than the traditional approaches. When doing robotic gallbladder surgery I use state-of-the art Firefly technology to help me visualize and protect the adjacent anatomical structures that can sometimes get injured during the surgery.
